Just Do It!

" In matters of style, swim with the current; In matters of principle, stand like a rock. "
                                                                                                        - Thomas Jefferson

Sometimes life trough's things at you that you are not prepared to handle. Sometimes it's your situation at home that may make life elsewhere difficult. SOMETIMES YOU COULD BE IN CLASS STRUGGLING ON THE CLASSWORK AND YOU ASK TWO OF YOUR FRIENDS FOR HELP BUT THEY'RE SO CAUGHT UP IN EACH OTHER TO LISTEN THEN WHEN YOU FINALLY GET THEIR ATTENTION THEY ACT LIKE THEY DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER OR LIKE THEY DON'T KNOW YET BUT THEY WILL GET BACK TO YOU. THEN YOU TURN AROUND TO TRY TO DO IT YOURSELF AGAIN AND YOU REALIZE THEY STILL HAVEN'T RESPONDED AND YOU TURN BACK TO THEM AND THEY'RE SMOOCHING IT UP. THEN YOU TURN AWAY TO GIVE THEM PRIVACY AND SOON AFTER THAT THE TEACHER WALKS IN SO YOU FIGURE THEY HAVE TO STOP NOW AND THEY DO BUT THEY GO RIGHT BACK TO DOING THEIR OWN WORK WHICH YOU REALIZE THEY ARE CLOSE TO FINISHING. SO YOU ASK THEM AGAIN FOR HELP AND THEY SAY THEIR STUCK TOO OR THEY JUST LAUGH AT YOU AND ASK YOU IF YOUR "MAD OR NAH".  SO NOW THE BELL IS ABOUT TO RING AND YOUR STILL ON NUMBER ONE BUT YOU SEE THEM GOING TO TURN IN THEIR WORK AND WHEN THEY COME BACK YOU ASK THEY WHY THEY DIDN'T HELP YOU BUT THEY SAY THEY DIDN'T KNOW OR THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE PAID ATTENTION OR USED YOUR NOTES. THEY MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR STUPID AND IT'S YOUR FAULT! BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE PRINCIPLES IN THESE SITUATIONS, LIKE NOT TRUSTING ALL THE PEOPLE YOU COME IN CONTACT WITH. ALSO IF YOU WANT SOMETHING DONE YOU HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF!

What's LOVE got to do with it!?.

Valentines Day

The history of Valentine’s Day–and the story of its patron saint–is shrouded in mystery. We do know that February has long been celebrated as a month of romance, and that St. Valentine’s Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. But who was Saint Valentine, and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons, where they were often beaten and tortured. According to one legend, an imprisoned Valentine actually sent the first “valentine” greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl–possibly his jailor’s daughter–who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed “From your Valentine,” an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories all emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic and–most importantly–romantic figure.

Just Do It!

"We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated."
                                                                                           -Maya Angelou

Sometimes we have a lot of things going on at one time.  So many, in fact, that you may feel like you can't accomplish anything. Some may call this feeling defeat, I call it 2/13/14.  I had to be 3 places at once and I felt like I would sink under the pressure. But in life sometimes it's not always easy but you have to find a way to move on and live.

Just Do It! (2/7/14)

“The surest way to not fail is to determine to succeed.”
  -Richard Sheridan

Whether, or not I know I will succeed I must try anyway.  Success doesn’t come all at once or out of the blue.  The only way to truly fail at something is to not try.  If you don’t try then you have no reason to worry about failure.

Just Do It!

"What you DO speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say."
                                                                           - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Actions speak louder than words. What you do greatly reflects the type of person you are and it can affect the value of your word.  If you say something and do something different or don't do what you said what you were going to do then you may be looked at as being untrustworthy.
